OpenAI has added Courtroom5 to the legal plugins available in ChatGPT, alongside Clio, Thomson Reuters, iManage, Relativity, Legora, Litera, and other providers built for law firms. Courtroom5 is there for the other side of the docket — the roughly 80% of civil litigants in the United States who appear without a lawyer. The plugin brings three jurisdiction-aware tools into ChatGPT: a case intake assessment, a deadline calculator, and next-step guidance for people already in active litigation.
Most of this launch is about giving lawyers more powerful tools. We’re glad to be part of it for a different reason: the millions of people who show up to civil court every year with no lawyer at all deserve the same caliber of AI working for them.

The plugin is free, requires no Courtroom5 account, and covers civil matters in all 50 states, including eviction, foreclosure, debt collection, family law, and small claims. The deadline calculator draws on jurisdiction-specific procedural data covering the 15 most active states for civil litigation, with the remaining states rolling out.
