What the connector does

Case intake assessment. Describe what’s happening in your own words. The tool identifies which legal claims may apply, tells you which court handles your case, and gives you first steps.
Deadline calculator. Tell it what just happened — you were served, a motion was filed, an order came down — and it returns your actual deadlines, when they’re due, and what happens if you miss them. It draws on jurisdiction-specific procedural data.
Next-step guidance. If you’re already in a case, this tool tells you the two or three things that matter most right now, based on your case stage, your role, and your state.
The tools cover civil matters — landlord-tenant disputes, debt collection, foreclosure, wrongful termination, wage claims, contract disputes, small claims, and family civil matters — and answer at an 8th-grade reading level. They don’t require an account or any sign-up.
To use it, a Gemini Enterprise administrator enables Courtroom5 from the Connectors Catalog. After that, it works in any Gemini conversation. Ask something like: “My landlord in North Carolina kept my entire security deposit after I moved out. What can I do?” or “I was served with a debt collection lawsuit in California on April 10. How long do I have to respond?” Gemini routes the question to the right tool automatically. The deadline calculator currently covers the 15 states with the highest civil litigation volume, with full 50-state coverage rolling out after launch.
A relationship that predates this launch
Courtroom5 was one of the Durham, N.C. startups backed by Google for Startups funding early on, and in 2025 Google for Startups featured us in an Alumni spotlight about our work with self-represented litigants. This launch continues that relationship rather than starting a new one.
It also reaches people through channels they already use. Legal aid organizations, court self-help centers, and community groups increasingly run on Google Cloud. Now the same guidance we built for someone handling a case alone is available inside the tools those organizations already have.
Who built this
Sonja Ebron and Debra Slone founded Courtroom5 after each went through civil litigation without a lawyer. We built the company around what we needed and couldn’t find.
